Description

Depo-Estradiol is a 5 ml vial containing estradiol cypionate. Each ml contains 5 mg Estradiol cypionate, and 5.4 mg chlorobutanol anhydrous as a preservative in 913 mg cottonseed oil. The vial contains a solution for injection that belongs to a class of hormones namely estradiol. It is a long-acting injection used to treat symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness, as well as to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. The medication works by replacing the estrogen that the body no longer produces after menopause. Estrogen is a hormone that is important for many bodily functions, including maintaining bone density and regulating the menstrual cycle. By replacing the lost estrogen, Depo-Estradiol can help reduce menopausal symptoms and prevent bone loss.

Depo-Estradiol is given as an Intramuscular injection usually every 3 months. The medication is slowly released into the bloodstream, providing consistent levels of estrogen over time.

Note that Depo-Estradiol is not recommended for women who have had breast cancer, and it may increase the risk of developing certain health conditions such as endometrial cancer, heart disease, stroke, and blood clots.
