Description
Suture, Maxon, Clear 4/0 1X30 CE4/C-13 are crafted from a polyglyconate copolymer, which combines glycolic acid and trimethylene carbonate. This composition ensures reliable performance in a variety of surgical applications. MAXON sutures are specifically designed for general soft tissue approximation and ligation. Their use extends to pediatric cardiovascular tissues where growth is anticipated and in peripheral vascular surgeries, offering flexibility and strength where needed.
MAXON sutures are not recommended for adult cardiovascular tissues, ophthalmic procedures, microsurgery, or neural tissue applications. These sutures provide an appropriate solution for scenarios where tissue growth and healing are expected, but their performance may not meet the requirements of more delicate or high-stress areas.
The tensile strength of MAXON sutures remains approximately 75% at two weeks, 65% at three weeks, and 50% at four weeks post-implantation. This gradual decrease in strength supports the natural healing process while minimizing the risk of suture-related complications.
Absorption of MAXON sutures is minimal until around 60 days after implantation, with complete absorption occurring within six months. This extended absorption period makes them suitable for applications where a longer duration of support is required during the healing process.
